ABOUT POLARIS

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

Joseph Campbell

Hi, I’m Jen.

Therapist. Wayfinder. Forever curious about what makes us human.

Life can change so fast.

Sometimes everything looks perfectly fine from the outside, while something inside quietly begins asking:

Is this still me?
What matters now?
Where do I go from here?

Polaris grew from my belief that those questions do not always mean something is wrong. Sometimes they mean you are paying attention. And sometimes what we need most is not someone to hand us a new map — but someone willing to sit beside us while we find our bearings.

A little about me. And a lot about why I'm here.

Several years ago, just hours after giving birth to my first son, life became very fragile.

I experienced severe preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome. I remember the room going dark, the strange sensation that I was being pulled away, and then hearing my own voice — fierce and unmistakable: I am not leaving my baby.

I survived. My body slowly recovered.  But emotionally, finding my way back took a lot  longer.

At the time, I was a graphic designer working in healthcare. But this experience changed the entire trajectory of my life. As I tried to make sense of what had happened, I became curious about how we survive difficult things, how our identity changes, how we make meaning, and how we find our way when life no longer looks the way we expected.

Eventually, I shifted from design and became a counselor. Looking back, I think that was one of my first experiences of finding my bearings.

It also taught me something I still believe today: Sometimes we need a helper. Not someone with all the answers. Someone who can sit beside us when hope feels small, help us notice possibility, and remind us how to hear our own voice again.

The work

For more than 13 years, I have had the honor of sitting with people in some of their most tender, complicated, and transformative seasons of their lives.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Education in Counseling and a Certificate in Prenatal & Perinatal (Birth) Psychology. My work has included individual and couples counseling, reproductive and maternal mental health, trauma, anxiety, life transitions, workplace wellness, clinical leadership, supervision, and education.

I am especially drawn to the moments when we find ourselves somewhere between who we have been and who we are becoming.

Becoming a parent — or watching your children begin lives of their own.

The unraveling and rebuilding that can happen in midlife.

Changes in relationships, careers, identity, health, friendship, purpose, and belonging.

The quiet realization that something that once fit no longer does.

These seasons can feel scary. They can also be incredibly alive.

I believe therapy can hold both grief and possibility. Courage can exist alongside fear. Resilience does not require pretending something was easy. And wonder is one of the ways we find our way back to ourselves.

Whether we are working together through counseling or coaching or some other way, we travel this journey together. There will be insight and challenges, hopefully some laughter, and definitely a lot of questions. But through it all, we will keep paying attention to what brings you a little closer to yourself.

Beyond the credentials

I am a mom of almost-grown boys, a dog lover, a lifelong wanderer, and someone who still gets super excited when the sky does something awesome.

I love the idea that wonder can coexist with adulting — that curiosity, awe, play, courage, and possibility do not have to disappear simply because life gets busy and complicated.

Some of my own most meaningful seasons have involved starting over, changing direction, doing things that scared me, and discovering that certainty is not always required before taking the next step.

Polaris is deeply connected to that belief.

We are allowed to keep becoming. And wondering. And dreaming.

Let's do this

You may already know exactly why you are here. Or you may simply know that something feels different and want some space to understand what — and why. Let's just begin where you are right now. I am so glad you’re here!
